A woman was stabbed multiple times inside a classroom at ASU's West Valley campus in Glendale on Sept. 19, 2024, and needed surgery for a punctured spleen. Classmates disarmed and held the attacker, 19-year-old Kaci Sloan, who faces four felony counts including premeditated attempted murder.

Court records say Sloan planned the attack the night before, considered two possible targets including a veteran, and chose the victim because she seemed an easier target. The victim told police she did not know her attacker.

ASU's side / contextFOX 10's report includes no statement from ASU. The charges are allegations; Sloan has not been convicted.
